SEI and Solar Tech Collective Partner to Launch New NFPA 70B Course for Electrical Equipment Maintenance

Paonia, CO – August 14, 2025 — Solar Energy International (SEI) and Solar Tech Collective (STC) are excited to announce the official launch of a new on-demand course, “NFPA 70B: The Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance,” available now on SEI’s Online Campus.
This course, developed by Solar Tech Collective and hosted by SEI, offers a comprehensive
, deep dive into the updated NFPA 70B — a standard that transitioned from a recomme
nded practice to a full ANSI standard in January 2023.
What makes this course unique?
- It focuses on practical implementation of NFPA 70B-based Electrical Maintenance Programs (EMPs), especially tailored forutility-scale photovoltaic and energy storage systems.
- Learners gain insights into mapping maintenance scope, interval determination, testing categories, documentation, and real-world adaptation.
- The course provides 60-day access to all materials, includes NABCEP-approved continuing education (CE) hours, and supports multiple certification pathways.
“At SEI, we are always looking to expand the depth and breadth of our training offerings and our partnerships with subject matter experts to meet the evolving needs of the clean energy workforce. Partnering with Solar Tech Collective on the NFPA 70B online course allows us to deliver critical electrical equipment maintenance knowledge to a broader audience. This training not only supports industry compliance but also strengthens the skills and safety practices of professionals working on solar and energy storage projects,” said Chris Turek, VP of Marketing and Business Development at SEI.
“At last a standard for solar and storage O&M! Guidance is great, and NFPA 70B takes a lot of the mystery out of what to do and how often to do it, both for PV- and ESS-specific equipment, as well as for all the ‘regular’ electrical gear in these systems. Whether you are building an O&M program from the ground up, or making sure your current EMP checks all the boxes, this course will be super valuable,” said Brian Mehalic, a Senior Consultant with Solar Tech Collective.
